Ayurvedic Health Consultations

Ayurveda is the sister science of traditional Hatha Yoga. An ancient Hindu holistic health science based around the notion of ‘Food as Medicine’ and ‘self-healing’. An Ayurvedic consult consists of diagnosing firstly the current Dosha (your unique constitution), and its’ current state of health. We then ascertain the possible causes of imbalances, through understanding lifestyle stressors, i.e environment, diet, substances, mental health, trauma, stress etc.

The fundamental aim of the consult is to create a wellbeing plan for the client to address these imbalances. This will consist of a thorough questionnaire around wellbeing : diet, lifestyle etc, and from there I will provide suggestions towards lifestyle practises such as specific asanas (yoga) daily routines to explore,; breathing practices (pranayama) dietary modifications and trataka (candle gazing).

You will receive a tool box of suggestions to take away and implement, should you wish.

We then have a follow up session wherein we ascertain any changes, improvements, possible aggravants.

I work from a client centred approach, therefore, am open to any feedback, positive or negative, so as we can work together towards the goal of achieving improved health on all levels; physical , emotional/mental and spiritual.

It is fundamental to note that in all of these therapeutic contexts, I adhere to strict client confidentiality and respect, as a duty of care.

1x 90 minute session = $80

Wellbeing Counselling

  • Mental health issues (anxiety, depression, low mood, fear, OCD)

  • Addiction/Substance abuse

  • Grief/loss

  • Chronic Pain

  • Relationships

  • Trauma / PTSD/ CPTSD

Safe, confidential, client-centred, empathetic, non- judgemental.

I work with clients using a variety of strategies and approaches to address traumas, understand triggers and root causes. Our sessions are lead by you. My goal is to listen effectively so as to understand and offer supportive advice.

Together we will navigate gentle strategies to implement progressive changes in perspective and behaviour by working THROUGH the layers of trauma, to unravel the complexities behind certain behavioural manifestations.

This process is by far not easy. It requires courage and perserverance, and above all, the will to wish to change.

With lived personal experience of PTSD, mental health and substance abuse issues, I feel I can genuinely empathise with clients allowing them to feel safe. In sharing some of my experiences clients feel less alone and begin to shed layers that no longer serve them in their journey towards wellness. And that is what I truly wish for you!

Counselling/Mental Health Support

Remedial Massage

Namaste, Kia Ora & welcome to Elements.

Established by experienced practitioner, holistic therapist and counsellor, my name is Josie.

My vision with Elements is to offer you a combination of therapeutic tools to aid in your transformative journey towards your own self-healing, on both a physical, physiological, emotional and spiritual level.

I was blessed to have trained under a Hindu couple in traditional Hatha Yoga and Ayurvedic practises. I then became a massage therapist, a counsellor, youth worker, education facilitator and mental health support worker.

My approach is personalised, comprehensive, and client centred. The therapeutic tools I can impart have enabled me to navigate through life to understand that healing must come from within.

Ayurveda translates as ‘The Science of Life’. It acknowledges we are each unique, with our own Dosha (constitution). Through understanding how we become imbalanced and learning how to heal ourselves, using Food as Medicine, respecting & nourishing our physical body with Yogic practises, and supporting our minds with spiritual practises, meditation techniques and journeying within, in a supported, professional environment, we then become the navigators of our own ships!

Your journey is your own, and I am here to support you along the way.

I look forward to sharing Elements Wellbeing with you!

Client Review Ayurvedic consult

I had an amazing treatment with Josie that incorporated Ayurvedic advice around nutrition and healthy recipes to improve my digestive system.

I had tried so many modalities over the years and nothing worked. Josie pin pointed the root cause of my symptoms and gave me amazing healthy remedies I could make myself. I have never felt better.

Josie is such a compassionate beautiful soul who pours her heart and soul into her treatments and is extremely knowledgeable on nutrition and Ayurveda, Highly recommended.

Love, Rosie.

Clients can book in for an initial consult to see if Elements feels right for you. Client Review Ayurvedic Consult

I was a woman who received a massage gifted to me by my husband for mother’s day. The session was an Ayurvedic Health consult plus a massage.

You helped guide me with some other incredible offerings. I can’t tell you how resonating and powerful your session was… and so intuitive and on point with several areas of my life and health..

I’m LOVING the porridge and finally found a store that carries the Moong Dahl, so thank you deeply.

Also, you lent me your books and i’ve been picking through them and would like to order some for myself.

Thank you for your loving generosity with everything you have done for me.

The blissful curiosity of youth

Kids move my soul, and remind me what it is to be Alive!

Their openness and genuine curiosity about the world around them. Their honest presence and how oblivious they are of others.

Children embody everything that constitutes really being in the moment, and feeling, shamelessly! I often wish we as ‘adults’ could have remained in this space, alas we become more and more conditioned, more cautious, even fearful, more selective, less willing, less open.

There’s a famous french novel written by Antoine de Saint-Exupery called, ‘Le Petit Prince’ (the little prince), my absolute favourite book ever.!

Told through the innocent voice of a child, as he navigates his way through foreign terrains he is dumbfounded by the ridiculous behaviours of adults, who just can’t see what he sees, too buried in their purposeless activities; having money & status, being important, being self-absorbed by vanity, and, being stupid, i.e doing things that do not serve us!

To summarize, there is a line in the book that loses it’s profundity when translated into English, but it is thus;

‘It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye’.

And therin lies the simple truth, through the heart we feel, we emote, we engage in life.

Trauma causes us to close off, and shut down. Out of protection, we do not want to feel, or let others in, leading to loneliness, insecurity, deep sadness and a heaviness that hovers over our whole being, meaning we are no longer really living.

This is why the comprehensive programme I offer is called ‘Anahata’ (heart) as it encompasses all of the philosophies and Patanjali’s 8 limbs of Yoga, which I really believe, when adhered to, give us a guide to living;

  • Yama (moral restraints)

  • Niyama (observances)

  • Asanas (postures)

  • Pranayama (breath control)

  • Dharana (concentration)

  • Dhyana (meditation)

  • Samadhi (bliss state/enlightenment)

Living life by these practises, is integral to how we manage our health, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

I’m very excited to share this programme with you!

Why choose Elements?

Elements was established from a vision of creating an integrative and holistic healing sanctuary for those clients who were seeking therapy and healing, above pampering! It is imperative that I am clear around the therapy work I offer, it is deep, healing work, therefore, not necessarily what you will receive in the context of a Spa.

I learnt much from my studies into Hatha & Ayurveda, largely, what I found to be at the core of it all, was that, in order to change, to grow, to learn, to heal, we must journey within, and only WE can decide if we are willing to take that step, for it certainly isn’t always pleasant or simple. I wanted clients to feel self-empowered, and able to have a connection with themselves, innately, so as they were able to understand how to navigate their way through this life.

It needed to be practical, and tangible, and hence, my emphasis on all therapeutic bodies: the physical (through massage and Yoga) physiological and emotional (with counselling and mental health support), and spirtual (with medition practises).

Ayurveda not only individualises, it holistically addresses the ‘self’ on all levels.

Elements offers a diverse took kit of therapies, techniques and strategies to support you! I also work closely alongside of other practitioners, therapists and healers and provide referrals wherever appropriate.

It has been the integration of everything I have learned, studied and experienced, and I am proud to be able to share Elements with you from all of my Aroha (heart).

Client review for Massage

Remedial & Abhyanga Massage

All massages are holistic and therapeutic. Focused firstly on addressing the health of the muscular skeletal systems, I incorporate Reflexology and Marma Point therapy (targeted reflex points throughout the meridian lines of the body which correlate with organ health). Specifically targeting the key organs: liver, kidney, gall bladder, spleen, digestive, endocrine, lungs and heart.

Chronic ailments benefit immensely from this comprehensive form of massage, as we stimulate circulation, we allow blockages and stagnant prana to flow to kidneys, allowing the detoxification process to begin.

Every session is unique and dependent on what is fundamental to my client’s wellness, overall. Largely, I am diagnosing the current state of the Dosha to determine the approach, and tools I feel are appropriate to utilise, in specifically, which organs are in the most need of attention, and therefore, which meridian lines, and marma points to employ.

So, unlike a regular Remedial treatment, wherein we target simply the physical body; inflammation and pain, Abhyanga adds the dimension of working on a deeper level, to address the underlying imbalances causing the external state of health.

Sessions are 90 minutes in duration, allowing sufficient time with my client to go through their health history, settle in to the space, experience a thorough treatment, and, afterwards, to be able to have the time to come back in to the body..

It is imperative for me to check in with clients to see how they feel, what came up for them and moving forward, how to continue nourishing our bodies. Obviously, our bodies store so much emotion, unresolved traumas and memories, and hence, my need for this time with you.

Follow up sessions are strongly advised for continuity and effectiveness.
